I saw it on the telly and thought it looked pretty cool. I thought I'd look pretty cool playing it too! In all seriousness I loved the gracefulness and virtuosity of the instrument and the beautiful sound. You can imagine how disappointed I was for the first couple years...

Yesterday I wanted to be a broadway star. Today I want to be an orchestral player. Tomorrow I'll want to be a jazz musician.
9. How do you feel you will benefit from participation in the NYOC? / Comment pensez-vous que votre participation à lONJC puisse vous aider?
This year the orchestra is playing some of the most important repertoire for an orchestral player to cover early on in their career. The instruction is nothing short of excellence and the atmosphere within the orchestra is something truly special - something that is hard to create and very rare.
What are your interests outside classical music / Avez-vous d’autres intérêts à part la musique classique ?
I train Taekwon-do (ITF) and I love singing. I think that Uncle John's Bathroom Reader is the most fun quiet pass-time.

My peers. I learn so much from them.

Right now - I'm hooked on Barbra Streisand. Funny Girl A Star is Born...

I don't have one. The last song on my iTunes was a Croatian folk-tune.
If you weren't touring with the NYOC what would you be doing with your summer? / Si vous ne faisiez pas partie de l' ONJC que feriez-vous cet été?
Another music camp (or two) intertwined with some sort of summer job.
What is there about you that you think people might be surprised to know? / Y a-t-il quelque chose à votre propos qui est un peu surprenant ou hors de l’ordinaire?
I have Croatian heritage and I lived there for 8 years (it is a stunningly beautiful country!).

My roommates from across the country always getting kicked out in the first round of the ping-pong tournament the ultimate frisbee games the first concert of the tour the late-night delivery pizzas the feeling that you deserve every hour of sleep you get... The good memories are the ones that stick forever and there are simply too many! My summers with the NYOC have been the best in my life.
