From the beginning of his career, Jacques Lacombe has been highly praised as a remarkable conductor whose artistic integrity and rapport with orchestras have quickly propelled him to international stature.
Since 2006, Mr. Lacombe has been the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for the l’Orchestre Symphonique de Trois-Rivieres and was the Principal Guest Conductor with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra from 2002 to 2006. He has conducted professional orchestras in Canada, the United States, France, England, the Czech Republic and Germany.
Mr. Lacombe is returning to the NYOC for his third year following his critically acclaimed work with the group in 2005 and 2006.
Born in Cap-de-la-Madeleine (Québec), Jacques Lacombe received his musical training at the Conservatoire de Musique in Trois-Rivières and the Conservatoire de Musique in Montréal. Following his studies in Canada, he studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna where he graduated in 1988 with degrees in both choral and orchestral conducting. His teachers were Karl Oesterreicher, Raffi Armenian, Günther Theuring, Harald Goertz, and Raymond Daveluy.
Jacques Lacombe has recorded for the Analekta label and has been broadcast on the CBC, PBS and on Hungarian Radio-Television.
